The Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Bataan presided by Vice Gov. Cris Garcia approved on third and final reading on Monday the ordinance prohibiting the pawning of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) cards in the province.

The legislation is aimed to stop the rampant pawning of 4Ps cards as collateral to get loans by 4Ps beneficiaries. Penalties will be imposed to liable persons like unscrupulous lenders and 4Ps beneficiaries.

The SP Committee on Social Welfare and Development chaired by Board Member Iya Roque solicited and considered the comments of Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office for the ordinance.
